How’s your feet Christian? Are they beautiful? Pastors today are expected to grow their church. They must be creative and innovative. They have to be motivators and great speakers.
Someone forgot to tell the great preacher Jonathan Edwards about this. He was not an enthusiastic speaker and often read his sermons sometimes under dim candlelight. Yet it is recorded when he read the one he is most known for ‘Sinners in the hands of an angry God’ the congregation was literally hanging on to the support posts of the church out of fear. Most would agree that Edwards had beautiful feet.
The Apostle Paul turned the known world upside down preaching the gospel everywhere he went. From what we know he wasn’t very much to look at but if we could see his feet we would surely find them calloused.
Christians are followers of Christ---at least that’s what we claim. But I wonder sometimes if we could keep up with Jesus. Although often not popular with the religious crowd he told them the truth about who he was. It cost him his life. He was willing to make the sacrifice so we could share in his life.
What about us? Are we willing to use our feet to take the news to those who haven’t heard?
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (Romans 10:13-15)
